Minutely Privacy Policy
Minutely (the “app”, “we”) is a private AI voice recorder for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app processes, where it is stored, and under what conditions anything ever leaves your device.
The short version: we do not collect your data. Recordings, transcripts, summaries, and chat conversations are stored only on your iPhone. The developer operates no servers that receive your content, requires no accounts, and runs no analytics tied to your identity.
1. What data the app processes
The app works with the following data exclusively on your device:
- Audio recordings — microphone recordings and imported audio/video files.
- Transcripts — text recognized from audio by a speech-recognition model running locally on the device.
- Summaries and chat — digests, action items, and answers to your questions generated by a local language model.
- Imported documents (e.g., PDF) — text is extracted locally.
- Settings — selected models, language, remaining free minutes, etc. (local storage and the app’s database).
All of this data is stored in the app’s protected container on your iPhone and is included in iCloud/iTunes backups only according to your own Apple backup settings. Deleting a recording in the app, or deleting the app itself, removes this data from the device.
2. What we do NOT do
- We do not collect or receive your audio recordings, transcripts, summaries, or chat messages.
- We do not require registration and do not create user accounts.
- We do not use advertising trackers and show no ads.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not track you across apps or websites (App Tracking Transparency is not required — there is no tracking).
3. AI model downloads
On first launch the app downloads AI model files (approximately 100–500 MB) from our model hosting. This is an ordinary file download: none of your content is transmitted — only the standard technical parameters of a network request (e.g., the IP address needed to deliver the file). We do not use these requests to identify or profile users.
4. Optional cloud services (off by default)
By default, all processing happens on the device. The app includes an optional cloud mode that:
- is disabled by default;
- is enabled only by you, explicitly, in Settings;
- works only with your own API keys, which you obtain from third-party providers yourself and enter in the app. Keys are stored locally on the device.
If you enable cloud mode:
- Deepgram (speech recognition): the audio recordings you choose are sent to Deepgram for transcription, governed by Deepgram’s policy: deepgram.com/privacy
- OpenRouter (language models): transcript text and your chat messages are sent to OpenRouter to generate summaries and answers, governed by OpenRouter’s policy: openrouter.ai/privacy
In these cases you act as a direct customer of the respective provider (it is your key and your agreement with them); we do not receive a copy of the transmitted data and have no access to it. You can turn cloud mode off at any time — the app returns to fully local processing.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details (card number, etc.) — those are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.
To manage subscription status the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives purchase information (product identifiers, subscription status and dates, App Store receipts) and a random, anonymous app installation identifier. This identifier is not linked to your identity: we do not know and never ask for your name, email, or Apple ID. The data is used solely to operate the subscription (activating Pro access, restoring purchases). RevenueCat’s policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
6. System permissions
- Microphone — required to record audio. Requested when you start your first recording; without it recording is unavailable while other features (file import) keep working.
- File access during import is granted through the system file picker and is limited to the files you select.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children. The App Store age rating is 4+.
8. Security
Data is stored in the app’s sandboxed container protected by iOS mechanisms (Data Protection encryption). Because data does not leave the device (except for cloud features you explicitly enable), the primary layer of protection is the security of your iPhone: we recommend using a passcode and Face ID/Touch ID.
9. Your rights and control
Because we do not store your data, you perform all operations on it yourself in the app: viewing, editing, exporting, and deleting any recording is available directly. Deleting the app removes all of its data from the device (backups are governed by your Apple settings).
If you used cloud mode, data deletion requests to the providers (Deepgram, OpenRouter) are made by you directly, as their customer.
If the laws of your country (e.g., GDPR in the EU or CCPA in California) grant you additional rights regarding personal data, please note: since we do not collect or store your personal data, most such requests (access, rectification, deletion, portability) are fulfilled by you directly on your device. For any questions you can contact us at the address below.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the new version.
